Bensport's "La Sarthe"

This year we were very proud to have showcased Bensport’s La Sarthe at the RREC Rally 2017 in our marquee! It's one of the finest Bentley Specials ever to have been produced. La Sarthe is the brainchild of Bob Perry, of Bensport Limited. It is based on an R Type chassis with a 4.9 litre Bentley engine. To this, the unique La Sarthe coachwork is added, to create the sweeping lines of the motorcar you can see at our stand.

Bensport’s philosophy is to build the very best possible motorcar of this type, adding the body to a rolling chassis that has been subject to a 100% nut-and-bolt no expense spared restoration. A limited run of these vehicles is currently in manufacture.

Inevitably, when building a vehicle of this type, availability of high quality components is critical. Many components have simply become unavailable, and sometimes there is the opportunity to build on our heritage and to create products that represent an improvement on historical technology. In 2016 Bob contacted us with a view to working together to solve some of the problems they were facing. There was an immediate meeting of minds. We share a passionate desire to build the best product we can. Bensport has gained access to IntroCar’s unrivalled supply chain, and IntroCar has developed products in partnership with Bensport’s technical expertise and testing facilities. Within nine months more than thirty products have been brought to market – and there are many more coming.

A Different Differential

One of the benefits of working with Bensport is our ability to offer differentials for the Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn, Silver Wraith, Silver Cloud I-III, Bentley Mk VI, R-Type and S1-3 models. When Bensport build a differential they always upgrade it to the latest specification, including a new crown wheel & pinion, new bearing sets, and upgrades to the pinion bearing and its housing, thereby assembling it to the most exacting standards. We’ve invested over £40,000 in the components for these units enabling us to stock off-the shelf differentials and to offer fast turnaround times if you need your own differential rebuilt.

By investing heavily in the manufacture of these components we’re able to offer them at the best value for money.
